The latest spike in BTC transaction fees comes amid a major decline in the Bitcoin network hash rate.

Bitcoin (BTC) transaction fees measured in United States dollars are near 2017 levels amid a massive hash rate drop on the Bitcoin network.

According to data from several Bitcoin monitoring resources, the average BTC transaction fee in U.S. dollars is near the all-time high recorded back in 2017.

WeWork, an American real estate company providing shared workspaces for startups, has announced that it will start accepting cryptocurrency payments from its customers.

The co-working giant revealed in an official post that it was expanding its payment flexibility to include digital assets for both inbound and outbound transactions. For a start, the list of supported cryptocurrencies includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, two stablecoins (USD Coin and Paxos), and several other digital assets.

The initiative is made possible through a partnership with BitPay (a cryptocurrency payment service provider) and Coinbase. Moving forward, landlords and third-party partners will be able to receive payments in Bitcoin or any of the supported cryptocurrencies through Coinbase.

WeWork will accept Bitcoin, Ether, two stablecoin payments in USDC and PAX, and several other cryptocurrencies as membership payments for their shared workspaces.

The listing of Coinbase on the Nasdaq last week was a pivotal moment for cryptocurrencies. This has placed the largest crypto exchange on the same level as many plain vanilla exchanges around the world. Bitfarms estimates it could have mined BTC for $4,125 each during Q4 2020 if its forthcoming Argentinian facility was operational.

Canadian Bitcoin mining firm Bitfarms has updated its plans for expansion in South America, revealing it has secured an eight-year contract to draw up to 210 megawatts, or MW, of electricity for $0.022 per kilowatt-hour, or kWh.

According to an April 19 announcement, Bitfarms has made significant progress in solidifying the terms for its Argentinian operation since first signing a non-binding memorandum to build a 60 MW power plant in October 2020.
